Pop star Shakira will perform at the closing ceremonies of the FIFA World Cup in Rio de Jainero on July 13.
Headlining the World Cup finals, Shakira’s expected performance underscores her third straight World Cup appearance.
“I’m thrilled to be performing my song ‘La la la (Brazil 2014)’ at the 2014 FIFA World Cup closing ceremony,” said Shakira, who will be performing along with Brazilian star Carlinhos Brown.
“I have an intricate relationship with football for obvious reasons, and I truly understand what the World Cup means to so many people, myself included,” explained Shakira who had a son with Spain defender Gerard Pique.
Among the performers include guitar virtuoso Carlos Santana, rapper Wyclef Jean, Brazilian singer Alexandre Pires—who will sing the tournament’s official anthem, “Dar um Jeito” at Maracana Stadium.
Singer Pires will pull off a medley of local music with Brazilian star Ivete Sangalo.
As FIFA has announced the musical lineup, eight teams are left competing for two spots at the Maracana. Defending champions Spain was already eliminated in the group phase.
Shakira’s native Colombia will match Brazil in the quarterfinals on Friday after a match between France and Germany. On the weekend, Argentina play Belgium trailed by Netherlands-Costa Rica.
